Last night I volunteered at a fundraiser for an organization that my mom helps to run, and it gave me the opportunity to dress up nicely. I know this isn’t my usual kind of picture post, but I’m really happy with the outfit ensemble and wanted to share :)

Look what arrived! I was feeling a bit anxious about making Delenn when I decided to do a generic search on eBay. Imagine my surprise when this showed up in the search! I had no idea these things had even been made, and now I found (and bought) two :D

I just finished AC: Revelations. Enjoyable overall, I guess. Definitely pretty.

I feel like continuing to the next game is an obligation, rather than something I really want to do. I can’t quite articulate why. Maybe playing the three huge games within relatively quick succession has made me jaded to what makes the series compelling… which I may have lost sight of. I guess I should post about thoughts after I’ve had time to reflect on the series so far, as there is a lot to think/write about.

Also, not exactly looking forward to the ACIV as I’m really sick of pirates as a genre. Maybe one day I’ll pick up III and IV (and V and VI and VII… it looks like they’re turning Assassin’s Creed into a yearly thing) but I’m not going to run to the store.

Time to eat dinner then get back to work on costumes :) I want to have some progress on Delenn done so I can work on it with my mom tomorrow.

Still left to do:

~~Hammer buckle buttons into place~~
~~Trim and sew straps~~
Add yellow cloth buckle covers
~~Real back pockets~~
~~Pant leg cuffs~~
Find white undershirt to use
Play with black Zoe wig and/or purchase new wig

All of the main pieces are now attached, and they’re coming out...

Made a quick cap mockup out of muslin to verify the size and shape. I also got the front panel to the point where it can be attached to the pants, which took a bit longer than it should have as I wanted to make a pocket for the front. When I added my phone and wallet it sagged more than ideal, so I installed a zip tie rib across the top for support.

The notes were done when I was struck by inspiration at work, and will hopefully guide the clean lines I want to achieve where the colors change on the outfit.

Long day at work, so only simple progress today. The pants stay...

I have a full-size mirror in my room, but the lighting is awful so no full-size selfies until I either get better lighting or post progress during the day.

These pants are entirely unimpressive right now, as they are completely oversized and missing every single detail, but my goal is to have them finished by the weekend so I can knuckle down and get going on the B5 costumes.

I’m making a ren faire bodice, lined and with boning. We’re going to the Rennaissance Pleasure Faire in Irwindale this weekend, where they have a lady knight :) I really hope she’s performing.

Took forever, but I drew out some sprite art for the scarf from Journey. I’m still unsure what the colors are since they change depending on what area you’re in .. but I know that a rusty red will be close.

We’re going to try and make the scarf, and possibly the cape light up using fiber optics and LEDs. If that ends up being successful expect many posts telling you how we did that.

WonderCon was fairly chill and a lot of fun. Got a picture with the kind and beautiful face model of Samara/Morinth (will post next) in my Shepard costume and she signed my Mass Effect art book, watched some new footage from Pacific Rim (want to see more!), hung out with friends, went to a fairly thoughtful panel on LGBT subtext in popular media, then laughed as the MC of the Masquerade tried to keep the audience from adding silly things on to the number count.

Today I got to sleep in for the first time in weeks. I spent the afternoon hanging out with my family, taking care of taxes and financial stuff. Also took their basic measurements in order to get started on costumes.

Yay good weekend :)

Finally, my favorite and probably the most complicated one of the bunch: G’Kar! There were no fewer than four types of leather used on this thing, in addition to the many layers of richly textured cloth. A lot of the material was painted to accentuate the textures and creases, and helped to give the whole thing an incredibly exotic feel. There are stones, studs, and metal chain glued onto the front and back pieces.

This is the first piece in the set of costumes (and in the entire Warner Bros display), and one hell of an introduction piece.

I don’t think I can express how interesting these are and how thankful I am for you posting them on Tumblr.

I’m honestly surprised at the amount of positive reactions. Very few people I have met have seen Babylon 5, or even know about it, and here there appears to be a thriving community of fans on tumblr :) To all my new followers, thank you! Londo Mollari and his purple jacket! Amazing how seeing the costumes up close you can pick out how they were made. Ribbon and trim and costume jewelry put together in the right way make for a royal outfit.
